Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM)
In the EPCM model, the EPCM contractor undertakes each Engineering phase, procures all equipment, materials and construction activities on behalf of the owner and manages all orders to completion. The EPCM method is best suited to projects where:
- the owner lacks the resources to develop and manage the project itself
- fast-tracking of the project stages is required
The EPCM method provides a number of advantages over the “owner managed” project. Most importantly, the owner engages a single entity to integrate all phases of project implementation. On the other hand, the owner still retains the majority of project risk until all orders are in place.
